Palav: In Karnataka, the vegetable palav/tarkari palav is made slightly differently. This is a really easy recipe, usually sona masuri rice is used for this recipe as opposed to basmati or jeera rice. Any kind of raw rice will work for this recipe. 


Ingredients: 
Oil 
Cardamom 
Clove 
Cinnamon 
Curry leaves 
Onion (sliced) 
Tomato, carrots, potatoes (chopped) 
Salt 
Sona masuri rice

How to make palav?

Instructions: 
1.Soak the rice in water for 20 to 30 minutes.

2.Heat oil in a pressure pan and add in the spices.

3.Saute for some seconds now add in the sliced onion and saute for few minutes.

4.Once the onions are soft, add in the chopped tomatoes. Saute for some minutes.

5.Wait for few minutes let tomatoes are cook well.

6.Now add in the vegetables and salt and some masala.

7.Now add in the soaked and drained rice and saute for few minutes.

8.Now add water and let the mixture boils, now cover the pressure pan with a lid and leave it exactly for three whistles on medium flame. turn off the flame and let the pressure from the cooker release naturally.

9.Now the palav is ready to serve.
